SSC JE Syllabus 2017 PDF and Examination Pattern

SSC JE Syllabus 2017: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is commencing an examination for the recruitment of Junior Engineers, Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts. The examination generally will take place in two parts – Paper I & Paper II.

Paper Ist will cover objective type questions on the other side paper II is
subjective and conventional type of exam.

  • General Awareness: General awareness will cover questions related to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Science, General Polity and Scientific Research, etc. You must be prepared with your current G.K.
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: In this question paper will questions related to analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series etc.
  • General Engineering (Civil and Structural), (Electrical & Mechanical) is divided into three parts i.e:

Part-A Civil Engineering: Environmental Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Surveying, Soil Mechanics, Hydraulics, Building Materials, Estimating, Costing and Valuation

Structural Engineering: RCC Design, Theory of Structures, Concrete Technology, Steel Design.

Part-B Electrical Engineering: Basic concepts,  Magnetic Circuit, Circuit law, AC Fundamentals, Electrical Machines, Measurement and Measuring instruments, Estimation and Costing, Fractional Kilowatt Motors and single phase induction Motors, Generation, Synchronous Machines, Basic Electronics, Transmission and Distribution, Utilization and Electrical Energy.

Part-C Mechanical Engineering: Theory of Machines and Machine Design, Properties of Pure Substances, Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials, Air standard Cycles for IC Engines, 1st Law of Thermodynamics, 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, IC Engine Performance, IC Engine Cooling & Lubrication, Rankine cycle of System, Boilers, Classification, Specification, Fitting & Accessories, IC Engines Combustion, Air Compressors & their cycles,Nozzles & Steam Turbines, Refrigeration cycles, Principle of Refrigeration Plant.

Properties & Classification of Fluids, Measurement of Fluid Pressure, Fluid Statics, Measurement of Flow rate,  Fluid kinematics, Dynamics of Ideal fluids, basic principles, Classification of steels, Hydraulic Turbines, Centrifugal Pumps.
