JEE Main 2018 Registration Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility

JEE Mains 2018 is one of the highly competitive engineering entrance examinations of India for admission to IIITs, NITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions. Lacks of students appear in this exam every year to fulfil their dream of studying engineering courses in India’s top engineering colleges. JEE Mains 2018 exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.). The qualified candidates  can get admissions in undergraduate  engineering./architecture courses in NITs, and other establishments/institutions. Those candidates who qualify JEE Mains are eligible for taking JEE Advanced exam for admission to most prestigeous engineering colleges of India-  IITs, NITs and CFITs. In fact qualifying JEE Main is a pre-requisite for taking JEE Advanced.

The JEE Main 2018 online application are likely to start in Ist week of  December 2017.

Changes made in JEE Mains 2017: Please note the following important instruction very carefully

  • There was no  weightage for higher secondary marks in calculating the ranks in JEE Mains 2017 examination. This is likely to continue.
  • For the applicants to qualify for appearing in JEE (Advanced) – 2017 in IITs, NITs, IIITs & other CFTIs whose admission are based totally on JEE ranks, they must have scored a  minimal 75% marks (65% for reserved categories) in higher secondary standard or be inside the top 20 percentile in higher secondary examination. This is also expected for JEE Main 2018.

 JEE Main 2018 Application form

The interested applicants can apply for JEE Mains 2018 on-line mode on the official website of JEE Main 2018. Application in any other mode will not be accepted. Candidates are advised to read JEE information Bulletin 2018  before filling  the application the applicants on the official website.

JEE Main 2018 Fee

All the applicants will have to pay a fee for taking JEE Main 2018 exam. The application fee has to be paid to complete the application process. The application fee will be paid both thru online or offline mode. Application fee paid is non-refundable. The Fee to be paid by applicants of different categories is different and is shown in the following table.

JEE Mains 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are interested to appear in  JEE Mains 2018 entrance examination should make sure that they are eligible for taking JEE Mains 2018 before proceeding. You can check all eligibility criteria like Age of candidate, educational qualification, subjects taken in qualifying exam etc. below. 

Age– GeneralCandidates: Candidates should be  born on after 1st October 1993. 

Reserved Categories (SC, ST & PwD) Candidates: Candidates should be born on or after 1st October 1988.

Education Qualification

  • The applicants must have passed class 12th or equivalent exam in 2016 or 2017 or appearing in class 12th or equivalent exam in 2018.
  • The candidates should have scored 50% in aggregate in  Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
  • The applicants must have minimum five subjects in class 12th including One language
  • The maximum number of attempts are 3.
  • The degree holder (three years) can also observe for JEE Mains 2018.

JEE Main 2018 Examination pattern

This examination will be performed for two papers. Applicants who want to take admission in B.Tech/B.E they need to apply for paper 1 and the candidates who need to take admission in B.Arch/B.planning, they must apply for paper 2. Candidate can observe for both papers.

There will be 2 papers in JEE fundamental examination- Paper I for engineering and Paper II for architecture.

 JEE Main 2018 Examination Pattern

Selection of the applicants is done by appearing in Paper 1 or Paper 2. Applicants interested in B.E./B. Tech courses will write Paper 1 and those interested in doing B.Arch/B.Planning will appear in Paper 2 in JEE Main 2018 entrance test.

JEE Main 2017 Paper 1: This Paper is conducted for admission to B.E. /B. Tech. The examination will be conducted in both modes namely (i) Pen and Paper Based Examination (PBE) and (ii)Computer Based Examination(CBE). Paper 1 will consist of 90 multiple choice questions 30 each from Physics, Chemistry and Maths. The duration of exam is 3 hours. For every correct answer you will be given 4 marks and for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.

Medium: For all exam cities, the question papers will be in be English & Hindi (except exam centre cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli where choices for question paper will be English, Hindi and Gujarati). You should clearly mention your choice  while filling up the application form.

JEE Main Paper 2: This Paper is conducted for admission to B.Arch. /B. Planning. Mode of Examination: JEE Main Paper 2 will be conducted in Offline mode (Pen and Paper Based) only.

Paper 2 will consist of three parts. Total marks of Paper 2 are 390.  Part-I will consist of  30 multiple choice questions from Mathematics and Part-II will have 50 multiple choice questions in Aptitude test. In addition to this, there will be 2 long questions (subjective) to test knowledge of Drawing.

Duration of test will be 3 hours. For each correct answer you will get 4 marks and for each incorrect answer you give away 1 marks.

JEE Main 2018 Admit Card

Admit card is the most important document you have. In contains all vital information like roll number, exam centre, time table of your exam etc.

JEE Main 2018 Admit card will be available for download from the second week of March 2018. Candidates are advised to download in from official website only.

JEE Mains 2016 cut-Off

  • For Gen candidates = 105 marks.
  • For OBC applicants = 70 marks.
  • For SC candidates= 50 marks.
  • For ST applicants=44 marks.

JoSAA- Counselling method

Applicants will be allocated seats on the basis of their All India Rank in JEE MAIN 2018 For which applicants will have to participate in counselling.  The counselling process is likely to start from the first week of July 2018 which will be conducted by CSAB and JoSAA will. Please note that counselling process will be online.
