Eligibility Criteria for CSIR UGC NET 2019

  • You must be the Indian citizen.
  • You must have scored at least 55% marks in the programs – B.Tech/BE/M.Sc/ MBBS/Integrated MS-PhD/BSc. (Hons) Degree or any other equivalent programme.
  • If you belong to reserved category 5% of relaxation in marks will be allotted to you.
  • If you have completed your PhD before 19 September 1992 then you can also apply for CSIR UGC NET, 2019.
  • You must not exceed your upper age limit i.e 28 years of age but if you belong to scheduled castes/Schedule Tribes/OBC, Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants will be relaxed with 5 years.

  • To submit your application you have to visit the official website CSIR to fill your application form.

Eligibility Criteria for CBSE UGC NET 2019

For Junior Research Fellowship:

  • You must not exceed the maximum age limit of up to 28 years as on 1st January 2019.
  • If you belong to reserved category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD category candidates) you will get upper age relaxation of 5 years. Also if you are carrying research experience than you will be allotted relaxation. If you are pursuing LL.M. degree than you will be eligible for 3 years relaxation in age.

For Assistant Professor:

  • There is no upper age limit set for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.
  • You must hold PG degree or its equivalent with the minimum score of least 55% from an affiliated university/institution.
  • If you have already qualified OR will qualify Post graduate degree OR if you are waiting for your results OR if your examination has been postponed (only in case) will be eligible to apply for CBSE UGC NET 2019.
  • The Ph.D. students must have completed their PG degree prior September 19, 1991 will be suitable to get 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks.

How to fill CBSE UGC NET 2019 Application Form?

  • To fill NET 2019 Application form you have to visit official website tentatively in the month of October, after releasing of official notification for NET (National Eligibility Test).
  • You have to first create your login ID and get register with CBSE. Again login to the application form to fill the complete details like your qualification and personal details.
  • Upload your recent passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  • Pay your application fee using your method payment and fill the details carefully.

Exam Pattern for CBSE UGC NET 2019

  • You will get three question papers for NET 2019 i.e paper-1, paper-2, and paper-3.
  • The 1st paper will be compulsory for all.
  • You have to choose two optional subjects, in which they have command over.
  • The second and third paper consider of questions related to those subjects.
  • Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
  • There will be no negative marking.

UGC NET Eligibility

If you are submitting NET Exam 2017 Application Form for UGC NET July 2017, please check all criteria of eligibility before you proceed.

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC with minimum 55% for general and 50% for reserve category candidates.
  • Those candidates who are appearing in final year of qualifying exam can also submit NET Exam 2017 Application Form for UGC NET July 2017.
  • Those candidates whose result is awaited or exam is delayed can also appear in the exam provided they pass with required %age marks in their PG exam within 2 years from the date on which NET exams result is declared.
  •  Candidates holding a Ph.D.  and completed  Master’s level examination by 19th September 1991 will get 5% relaxation in aggregate marks in qualifying exam. (minimum 50% for general and 45% for reserve category candidates.
  • If you hold post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/institute then please ensure that your qualification matches with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. For JRF: For General category candidates maximum age is 28 years on 1 July 2017.

For OBC (Non- creamy layer), SC/ST/PWD, Women candidate, maximum age is 33 years on 1 July 2017.

Candidates who were involved in research work will be given relaxation in age equal to the time spent on research work but cannot exceed 5 years.

Candidates holding an LLM degree will get 3 years relaxation in maximum age.

For Associate Professor: There is no bar in upper age limit.

No need to appear in UGC NET July 2017 if

  1. You hold a Ph. D. under Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of the Ph. D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 of UGC
  2. You have qualified UGC/CSIR JRF examination before 1989.
  3. You have qualified  States Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held before 1st June 2002 can apply for Assistant Professor in any University in India.
  4. You have qualified SET held after 1st June 2002 can apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the state from where you have qualified SET.


General Category: Rs. 600/-

OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Rs. 300/-

SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 150/-

You can pay NET Exam 2017application form fee either by credit/ debit card or through e- challan only. No other mode of payment will be accepted. If you are paying through e-challan payment should be made in Syndicate/ Canara/ ICICI/HDFC Bank only.

NET Exam Pattern

There will be three question papers- Paper I, Paper II and Paper III. All the three papers will be Objective Type.

PaperI: Paper I will consist of 60 MCQs. You will answer only 50 questions. Each question will carry 2 marks thus total marks for Paper I are 100. The time allowed for the paper I is 1 hour 15 minutes and will be held in first session from9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.

Questions in Paper I will be based on reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. It is intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate.

Paper II: Paper II will consist of 50MCQs. You will answer all 50 questions. Each question is of 2 marks. Total marks for Paper II are 100. The time allowed for the paper II is also 1 hour 15 minutes. Paper II will start from 11:15 A.M. to 12:30 PM.

Questions on this paper are based on the subject chosen by the aspirant.

Paper III: Paper III will consist of 75 MCQs. You have to answer all 75 questions. Each question is of 2 marks. Total marks for Paper III are 150. The time allowed for the paper III is also 2 hours 30 minutes. Paper III will begin at 2:00 PM and end at 4:30 PM.

Questions of Paper III are based on the subject chosen by the aspirant.

Keep the scanned copy of followings ready before applying.

  • Passport size photograph- JPG format of size  4kb to 40 kb ( 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height). 
  • Signature of applicants- JPG format of size 4kb to 30 kb (3.5 cm (width) x 1.5 cm (height))

Criteria for making NET result/ Cutoff percentage, Cutoff Marks

The criteria for preparation of result for UGC NET Result July 2017 is as follows.

CSIR NET Exam Eligibility Criteria

Minimum eligibility norms for appearing in CSIR UGC net 2017 are listed below.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have completed four years degree course BE/B.Tech/integrated BS-MS/ B. Pharma/MBBS/M.Sc/BSc (Hons) or its equivalent other degree OR BS program OR B.Sc (Hons) OR candidates who’re admitted into included MS-PhD Application with securing minimum 55% marks for general  & OBC-NCL (50% for SC/ST/physically and Visually handicapped)

Candidates who’ve just obtained 10+2+3 pattern degree and enrolled for the M.Sc application can apply under result Awaited (RA) class provided applicants must have to fulfil their eligibility earlier than the last date of online application.


  • The upper age limit for appearing for JRF is 28 years. Relaxation of 5 years in age will be given for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/OBC/ PH/Visually handicapped/female category.
  • There is NO upper age limit for Lecturership.

  • Complete the online form on the official website and submit it.

CSIR NET Exam Pattern

No. of Paper: One (1). There will be a single objective type question paper It will consist of three parts A, B & C.

Part A is common for all subjects. Part A is comprised of MCQs based on the quantitative comparison, graphical analysis, logical reasoning, series formation, puzzles, analytical and numerical ability etc.

Part ‘B’ will contain  Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), based on topics given in the syllabus.

Part ‘C’  is designed to check the knowledge of scientific concepts and their application.

Maximum marks: 200

Duration: 3 hours

Negative marking rule can be relevant as in keeping with the situation smart sample of the test.
